
Research fellowships
The Governing Body invite applications during the academic year for election to a Research Fellowship.
The Governing Body of Downing College, Cambridge, invites applications for election to a non-stipendiary Fellowship in Medical Sciences starting on 1 October 2025 and continuing until 30 September 2028, when the Fellow will be eligible for re-election in line with the College Statutes. Applications will be considered from established researchers employed by the University of Cambridge (or affiliated institutions) and working in any area of Medical Sciences.
The College wishes to strengthen its teaching provision in Medical Sciences and is seeking to attract individuals interested in joining a small, friendly and dedicated Fellowship, committed both to research and to undergraduate and postgraduate education.

The Governing Body of Downing College, Cambridge, invites applications for appointment to a number of College Teaching Associateships starting on 1st October 2025 for one year in the first instance, with the possibility of renewal subject to receipt of satisfactory reports. The College wishes to secure undergraduate supervision in the fields of Medicine (Human Reproduction), Sociology, and Natural Science (Biology of Cells, Ecology, Evolution, Conservation and Animal Biology).
Applications are particularly welcomed from postdoctoral researchers at an early stage in their career. Successful candidates will be elected as a Bye-Fellow of the College if they do not already hold a Fellowship or Bye-Fellowship at another College.
Successful candidates will be expected to provide supervisions for Downing students over the course of the academic year, for which payment will be made at the usual intercollegiate rate. Please contact the relevant Director of Studies for more details of the supervision papers required. Access to parking in the College when on College business will be provided, and generous lunching and dining privileges.
