Oxford and Cambridge Information Days for the South West (OCID)

The OCID webinars are a joint programme run by Downing, Trinity Hall and Robinson Colleges at the University of Cambridge, and Exeter, Lady Margaret Hall and Merton Colleges at the University of Oxford.

They are designed to be shown in class across schools in the wider South West region (Bath and North East Somerset, Bournemouth, Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, North Somerset, Plymouth, Poole, Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon, Torbay, and Wiltshire).

There are 4 different sessions on offer:

For students:

Part A - Introduction to Oxbridge: Tuesday 23 April, 9.30am-11am, or Thursday 25 April, 1.30pm-3pm (the two sessions will be identical)


Part A will cover an introduction to Oxford and Cambridge, including how Colleges work, what makes Oxford and Cambridge different to other Universities and why students may want to consider applying to them. There is also a student life talk delivered by current undergraduates from Cambridge and Oxford, followed by a Q&A with the undergraduates.

Part B Sessions, Admissions Information: Wednesday 1 May, 9.30am-11am, or Thursday 2 May, 1.30pm-3pm (the two sessions will be identical)


Part B will be led by College Admissions Tutors, and cover the application process to Oxford and Cambridge, with focus on preparing for Personal Statements, admissions assessments, and interviews. The Admissions Tutors will also answer any questions the students might have.
 

For parents:

Parent and Supporters Session: Wednesday 1 May, 6pm-7pm

This session will cover the differences between Oxford and Cambridge and other universities, the application timeline, how parents and guardians can support students in applying, as well as an overview of student finance, fees, and funding. There will be a chance to pre-submit questions or ask them live. A recording will be made available if you cannot watch live, but please register to access this.

For teachers:

Teacher and Advisers Session: Thursday 2 May, 4.15pm-5.15pm

This session will focus on the Oxbridge application timeline, how the universities use Personal Statements and UCAS references, admissions assessments, and an overview of the interview process. It will include practical guidance as to how best to support students applying to Oxbridge. There will be a chance to pre-submit questions and ask them live. A recording will be made available if you cannot watch live, but please register to access this.
