Connections

The Downing experience does not end when you graduate; it’s a connection that lasts a lifetime.

Alumni find Downing to be just as exciting, stimulating and enriching as when they were students. We invite you to take advantage of your alumni privileges and to participate in the life of the College today.

The Downing Magazine and Dow@ Cam

The Downing Magazine is the new magazine for Downing College alumni. It's published annually and sent out to all members of the College. Got an interesting story to tell? Please get in touch.

You can access back-copies of Downing Magazine and Dow@ Cam here.

Magenta News

Magenta News is an informal source of news about old members, written by the Year Representatives as a focus for their year and published annually in the Association Newsletter. Links to Magenta News are provided below, but access is limited to alumni – please log in to read Magenta News.

If you’d like to make a contribution to Magenta News, please contact your Year Rep or the Development Office.

Alumni Association

The Downing College Alumni Association comprises past and present members of the College and is run by a voluntary group of members whose aim is to foster links between the College and alumni that complement the work of the Alumni & Development Office.

It also sells a wide range of College merchandise, proceeds from the sales of which provide vital contributions to alleviate student hardship.

The Association compiles and edits the Downing College Association Newsletter and College Record. Together with Magenta News, a less-formal source of news of Downing College alumni compiled by the Year Representatives, these are posted annually to all members. Back issues of The Association Newsletter and the College Record are available to view on the Downing College website.

Development Ambassador Fellow

Dr Sarah Kennedy was appointed as Downing’s inaugural Development Ambassador Fellow in 2017. The primary purpose of this role is to deepen the connections between the Downing Fellowship and the College’s vibrant community of alumni and donors. Dr Kennedy will provide a point of contact for alumni and donors, attending Alumni events both in the UK and internationally. She will also liaise between the Fellows and the Development Office, ensuring the Fellowship is aware of current development priorities and that the Development Office understands the educational and tutorial needs of the College.
