My research focuses on applying modern molecular analytic approaches to human tissue, with the aim of elucidating pathophysiological mechanisms, leading to improved patient stratification frameworks and the identification of novel therapeutic targets. My specific interests are kidney transplantation and ‘inflammatory’ renal diseases including lupus nephritis and ANCA-associated vasculitis. I principally use spatial transcriptomic platforms to interrogate patient kidney biopsy tissue. I lead the Molecular Diagnosis in Renal Pathology (MDiRP) study and have established and currently run two Human Tissue Authority-licensed Research Tissue Banks situated on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
