Downing Fellow's research included in new augmented reality trail

Research by Professor Zoe Kourtzi, Fellow in Cognitive Neuroscience at Downing, has been included in a new augmented reality trail by the University of Cambridge.

Cambridge ReseARch Trail shows augmented reality sculptures as users walk through the city, allowing them to discover more about the world-leading research taking place across the university.

The trail makes stops at some of the Colleges and Departments, including the Department of Psychology on the Downing Site, where users can learn more about brainwaves and the work of Professor Kourtzi, whose research focuses on the role of learning and experience in enabling humans of all ages to translate sensory experience in complex decisions and adaptive behaviours.

“I am delighted that our work on brainwaves for learning and plasticity is a stop on the ReseARch Trail,” said Professor Kourtzi.

"I invite you to step with me into the world of brainwaves to explore why individuals learn in their own way and pace, and how we can learn better and faster when tuning into our own brain's natural tempo."

Other notable stops include The Eagle pub, where Francis Crick and James Watson announced their proposal for the structure of DNA, and Trinity College, where more can be learned about Professor Stephen Hawking’s work and A.A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh.

The trail can be accessed by downloading the app Cambridge AR Trail from the relevant app store or by scanning the QR codes on posters at each location.
