Death of Emeritus Fellow

Downing is saddened to share that Emeritus Fellow, Dick Grove, died on Sunday, aged 99.

He was a Fellow in Geography at Downing from 1963 to 1991. He went on to become Senior Tutor in the 1970s and Vice Master in the 1980s.

Dick was also a Lecturer in the Department of Geography from 1949 to 1982, and director of the Cambridge Centre for African Studies. His research focused on desertification and climate history in arid lands and the human and physical geography of Africa.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
