Downing student at COP27

The 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) took place in Egypt earlier this month, with more than 90 heads of state in attendance to assess progress in dealing with climate change.

Among the thousands of representatives from 190 different countries, Downing student Filip Novakovic played an active role at COP27 as an official delegate in the conference. A role that saw him engaging with policymakers, world leaders, business executives and the civil society.

He drove the agenda on increasing financial capital flows into climate solutions and innovation to support Sustainable Development Goals, facilitating round tables and speaking at panel events.

Filip emphasised the importance of including young voices in decision making processes and empowering the civil society to participate in constructive action to mitigate the effects of climate change.
