Downing celebrates another year of University exam success

Downing College is proud to celebrate another year of outstanding results in University examinations.

This year 137 Downing students, including 45 finalists, achieved overall Firsts in their exams, with three students finishing top of their Tripos.

17 of our finalists have been elected to the title of Foundation Scholars for their exceptional performance, obtaining first-class results in each year of their studies.

This follows last year’s success, which saw Downing students achieve the College’s best set of fully examined results in living memory. This year, the number of first-class results is even higher.

“I am very pleased that this cohort has maintained such high standards of examination performance," said Professor Guy Williams, Senior Tutor.

"Every individual result represents a huge achievement principally for the students themselves, but also the Fellows, supervisors and staff who have taught, mentored and helped them along the way. Well done!“

The Master, Professor Graham Virgo, said: “These exceptional examination results reflect the hard work and dedication of our exceptional students. I am very proud of what they have achieved and what they have and will continue to contribute to Downing as a vibrant academic community.’

On behalf of everyone at Downing College, we offer our sincere congratulations to our students.
