Dr Sarah Kennedy, Downing Fellow in English, appointed Development Ambassador Fellow

The College is delighted to announce that Dr Sarah Kennedy has been appointed as Downing’s inaugural Development Ambassador Fellow. The primary purpose of this new role is to deepen the connections between the Downing Fellowship and the College’s vibrant community of alumni and donors.

Dr Kennedy will provide a point of contact for alumni and donors, attending Alumni events both in the UK and internationally. She will also liaise between the Fellows and the Development Office, ensuring the Fellowship is aware of current development priorities and that the Development Office understands the educational and tutorial needs of the College.

Dr Kennedy has a background in the law: she was a solicitor at Minter Ellison Lawyers, specialising in competition litigation prior to coming to Cambridge to study literature. She completed her English Ph.D at St. John’s College in 2009. Her research interests centre on Modernist fiction, and on twentieth-century and contemporary poetry in English. Her book on T. S. Eliot (T. S. Eliot and the Dynamic Imagination) is forthcoming from Cambridge University Press.

Australian by birth, we anticipate Dr Kennedy will be regularly travelling to Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and other locations in the Far East where she looks forward to meeting with alumni and other supporters of the College.

For more details of Dr Kennedy's research interests, please see her profile page in the Directory of Fellows.
