Death of alumnus Lord Jim Wallace of Tankerness (1972)
We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Downing alumnus, Lord Jim Wallace of Tankerness (1972).
As a Law graduate of Downing, Jim went on to lead a life of extraordinary public service. From serving as Scotland’s first Deputy First Minister to his role as Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, he remained a steadfast advocate for justice, devolution and the communities of Orkney and Shetland.
We send our deepest condolences to his family and his many friends and former colleagues.
