Congratulations!  Your hard work has paid off and you'll soon be joining us at Downing.  The Freshers' Committee have worked really hard to give you the best possible welcome to Downing, with the best Freshers' Week in Cambridge.

To stay up to date with plans for Freshers' Week please join our Facebook page 'Downing College Official Freshers 2019', which is different from our offer holders' page.  We will share lots of information on this page, including details of how to buy exclusive Freshers' merchandise and wrist bands for nights out.

It is very important that you read the 2019 Freshers' Handbook, which contains vital information, helpful advice, the timetable for Freshers' Week and the International Freshers' Handbook as well as the international timetable for early arrivals, created by the Freshers’ Committee and International Freshers' Committee respectively.  These documents will be published here in due course, as well as on the official Facebook page.

As soon as your room has been allocated, we will be creating Facebook groups for each accommodation building, so you can plan together before you arrive and organise anything you may wish to share.  We will have a list of official names to accept into each group for these, so if your Facebook name doesn't match your official name, please message or email @downingcollegefreshers2019 to let us know.  If you don't have a Facebook account and don't want to get one, please let us know by email and we will endeavour to keep you updated.

You'll also hear from your college parents before you arrive at Downing - they are second years who (most of the time) do your subject and exist as a support mechanism to help you settle in to Downing.  You'll meet them during Freshers' Week, but they are a great source of advice (especially subject related) before you arrive, so feel free to ask them lots of questions!

The whole JCR committee are introduced in the Freshers' Handbook, but the key people you may want to contact with questions are the President (Cameron O'Connor), the Head Freshers' Reps (ourselves - Scarlett Walker and Fraser Rosser-Smyth) and the International Officers (Gauhrishi Narang and Natanya Cartwright).  Please feel free to email or send us a Facebook message and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.

The whole JCR and Freshers' Committee are very excited to welcome you all in October.  Please do not hesitate to get in touch with any questions, no matter how small, before then and we'll be more than happy to answer.
