2022 Richmond Lecture

with Professor Ravi Gupta

Friday May 13th, 6pm

Howard Theatre, Downing College

The Richmond Lecture is a special Downing occasion when an eminent speaker talks about a subject of special interest to students.

This year please come and hear Professor Ravi Gupta, a Downing alum who’s now Cambridge professor of clinical microbiology and on the faculty of the Africa Health Research Institute in Durban, South Africa. His main claim to fame was to cure a man, known as the “London patient” of HIV infection, only the second time this has been done. His interest in how a virus interacts with human cells also involved work on the rapid diagnosis of Covid-19. In 2020 he was named one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People.

Ravi will speak at 6pm on Friday 13 May in the Howard Theatre, followed by drinks in the Grace Howard.

Everyone is welcome.
