Downing Alumnus/a of the Year 2026

We are delighted to be launching this year’s awards which allows us to celebrate the accomplishments of our alumni from around the world.

Has one of your Downing friends made outstanding progress in their career? Has someone in your network led the way with research or innovative thinking that has had a significant impact on the industry? Does a fellow alumnus/a spring to mind whose success can inspire others? 

Help us celebrate these exceptional achievements, innovations, and accomplishments by submitting a nomination today.

Award criteria

Young Alumnus/a of the Year 

An alumnus/a who:

  • Graduated from Downing College in the last 20 years.
  • Is making an exemplary contribution to their community, or impact on society through their professional, voluntary or charitable activities.
  • Is making significant contributions to advancing their field.
  • Has demonstrated determination and motivation whilst leading and striving for excellence in chosen field
  • Is an inspiring role model, mentor or champion.

Alumnus/a of the Year

An alumnus/a who:

  • Graduated from Downing College before 2005.
  • Is influencing change or making a positive impact on society through their professional, voluntary or charitable activities.
  • Can demonstrate the scale and tangible impact of their work and achievements over several years.
  • Has transformed their field, challenged boundaries or developed innovative solutions.
  • Is an exemplary role model, inspiring leader or champion.

The winners will be formally announced in September 2026 and will be invited to a dinner in College during Michaelmas or Lent term 2026/7.
