Thomas Maurice Twynam Bostock was born at 16 Colville Mansions, Kensington on 13 May 1910, the elder son of Thomas Maurice Bostock, a civil engineer, and Maria Mercedes (née Twynam) Bostock of "Mockbeggar", near Ringwood in Hampshire. He was educated at Downside School near Bath from 1923 and 1928 and attended the Royal Military Academy in Woolwich before being commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Engineers on 30 January 1930. He matriculated at Downing College in October 1930, studying Mechanical Sciences and graduating with a BA in 1932.
After graduating, Thomas was promoted to Lieutenant on 30 January 1933 and to Captain on 1 August 1938. He was later attached to the 50th Field Park Company, Indian Engineers. He was killed on active service on 10 April 1941, drowned in an accident at Akora.
Captain Bostock is commemorated on the war memorial at Downside School and on the Brookwood 1939-1945 Memorial.
