At the Association Annual General Meeting in September 2005, we agreed to set up a new Student Support Fund to help the increasing number of students, undergraduates and post graduates, who need financial assistance with the purchase books or other educational materials, such as special computer software, sheet music, drawing office equipment and materials.
Grants for other specific educational purposes are also considered, including travel, vacation study or conferences for which no other University and College funds are available.
In all cases, students first apply for support to their College Tutors, who then forward recommendations to the Association.
We received a steady stream of applications during the last academic year and 48 students benefited from grants averaging just over £130.
